Expert-led, Tailored Therapy for Meaningful Patient Outcomes.

Purpose is Key.

Our Support Groups have the sole purpose of removing the stress and anxiety that comes along with being a cancer patient.

Your Safety is Our Priority.

Everyone in your support group is required to sign an NDA, which legally prohibits them from discussing anything said in the support group meeting at any time. Furthermore, we take great measures to ensure your data is safe. See our FAQs to learn more.

Expert-led Guidance.

Each support group is led by an experienced Clinical Psychologist or Psychiatrist, so patients can be assured that they are being given the highest-quality care with evidence-based practices, without worrying about misinformation.

What do Support Groups Look Like?

  • 5-10 patients per support group. Since your support group is tailored to your personal concerns, our supervisors develop their therapy specific to you.

  • In your support group, you will be participating in group discussions, role-playing, and cognitive exercises, all of which are proven to improve mental health.

  • We will be focusing on specific issues like anxiety, depression, or coping strategies.

  • Maintaining organized sessions with specific goals and activities designed to address common issues.

  • Support groups focus on teaching practical tools and techniques for managing stress and emotional difficulties.

“A collaborative space combined with professional support and evidence-based methods that are tailored to you.”

— Siddhant, Founder and CEO of OncoSupport

Below is a list of factors we use to place you into a support group:

How do I get matched into a support group?

Our unique matching and clustering algorithms process your information and place you in a support group that consists of patients similar to you. For example, a hypothetical patient named Sarah is a mother who primarily struggles with anxiety. Sarah would be matched into a support group with other mothers and patients who deal with anxiety. Therefore, her therapy will be structured towards her demographic, giving her a personalized experience.

Our Groups utilize Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapy (CBGT).

Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapy (CBGT) is a structured form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. It is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is a widely used, evidence-based approach to treating a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and stress-related disorders.

Benefits of CBGT:

CBT provides practical tools for managing stress, such as relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and problem-solving skills. These tools are invaluable for cancer patients who face ongoing stressors related to their health, treatment, and personal lives (Nakao et al., 2021).

1. Better Stress Management

A 2020 study finds that participation in mental health treatment programs was linked to a reduced chance of being diagnosed with advanced cancer, an increased likelihood of receiving stage-appropriate treatment, and lower overall and lung cancer-specific mortality (Berchuck et al., 2020).

.

2. Enhanced Recovery Ability

3. Improved Resilience

CBGT helps cancer patients develop coping strategies to manage the emotional distress associated with their diagnosis and treatment. By challenging negative thoughts and learning to reframe them, patients can build emotional resilience and reduce feelings of anxiety and depression (Daniels, 2015).

Cancer can often make patients feel powerless. CBGT empowers patients by teaching them techniques to take control of their thoughts and behaviors, fostering a sense of agency, and reducing feelings of helplessness (Avery, 2023).

4. Empowerment and Control

When conducted in a group setting, CBGT offers a supportive community where patients can share their experiences and learn from others facing similar challenges. This support network can reduce feelings of isolation and provide a sense of camaraderie and understanding (Vickery, 2022).

5. A Supportive Environment

6. Improved Treatment Adherence

A 2022 study found that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) significantly improves treatment adherence among cancer patients. The research indicates that CBT helps patients manage the psychological and emotional challenges of cancer treatment, leading to better compliance with prescribed regimens. This adherence is critical for maximizing the effectiveness of cancer therapies and improving overall outcomes (Lin et al., 2022).
