Clinical Trials
Join Us in Improving Cancer Support
By joining a clinical trial, you help us test new ways to improve mental health and quality of life for people living with cancer.
What are clinical trials?
Clinical trials are research studies that involve volunteers to help us understand whether new approaches to care can improve patient outcomes. We’re grateful to everyone who chooses to participate — your involvement makes this research possible.
How our Clinical Trials work
OncoSupport is collaborating with the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and UC Health to conduct a Phase I Clinical Trial. Our goal is to assess whether personalized, therapist-led support groups created using machine-learning can improve mental health and quality of life for people with cancer.
We’re studying Participants complete brief surveys and join a group matched to their needs. The study lasts six weeks, and you may withdraw at any time.
Our clinical trials are led by board-certified physicians and healthcare workers, and is approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Active Clinical Trials
Evaluating the Feasibility, Acceptability, and Preliminary Psychological Benefits of AI-Matched, Therapist-Led Support Groups for Survivors of Solid-Tumor Cancers and Hematologic Malignancies Using the OncoSupport Platform.
Purpose:
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether personalized, therapist-led support groups can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression in people with solid-tumor or blood cancers.
Eligibility criteria:
You may be eligible if you:
Are 18 years or older
Have a diagnosis of a solid-tumor cancer or hematologic malignancy
Are medically stable enough to join weekly group sessions
Have access to a phone, tablet, or computer
Can participate in a 6-week support group
You may not be eligible if you:
Have active suicidal intent

Are experiencing a psychiatric crisis that prevents group participation
What Participation Involves:
A brief screening call to confirm eligibility
Completing short surveys before and after the program
Attending one therapist-led support group session per week (6 weeks total)
Optional feedback at the end of the study
Time Commitment:
The study lasts 6 weeks and will begin February 2026. Each support-group session lasts about 60–75 minutes.
How to Join:
If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact the study coordinator, Siddhant Nagar, at nagarst@mail.uc.edu, or our Principal Investigator, Dr. Anjanette Wells PhD, at wells2aa@ucmail.uc.edu.
After you reach out, we will schedule a brief screening call (about 10–15 minutes) to confirm eligibility. During this call, you’ll complete two short standard questionnaires about anxiety and depression (GAD-7 and PHQ-9).
If you are eligible, you’ll meet with one of our faculty investigators for a consent discussion. In this meeting, we’ll review the study in detail, answer your questions, and you’ll decide whether you want to join.
If you choose to participate, we will stay in touch and provide updates before the intervention period begins in February 2026.
